Wizard FC in Hinsdale, IL started using TopTekkers earlier this year. Kim Jerantowski, the club’s Director of Operations, recently spoke to us on their individual approach to the app. We were keen to find out how they would be implementing TopTekkers within their club, as well as discussing their general philosophy on the development of young players.

TT: How long has your club been using TopTekkers?

KJ: Since March 2020.

TT: Which age groups/players in your club are using TopTekkers?

KJ: Our U8-U12 teams.

TT: How have you implemented TopTekkers in your organization? 

KJ: Each coach will check in with their team and then assign the appropriate challenges.

TT: Why did you get TopTekkers for your players?

KJ: It’s a good way for our kids to work on their skills during the pandemic.

TT: What’s your organization’s development philosophy?

KJ: We value player development over results.

TT: Why is practice important? (Away from the training field).

KJ: You will never be a good player until you master a skill. Training away from practice time is essential to the development of a player.

TT: Describe the perfect Wizard FC player, a player that embodies your organization on and off the field. What does that player look like?

KJ: They are coachable and always looking to get better. Inquisitive about the game with a desire to take everything to the next level.
